Project Cheat Codes

About Page

The Story

Project Cheat Codes didn't start in a boardroom; it began as a personal challenge to master Android development. What started as a small, niche tool focused on a single publisher quickly grew as I realized a universal problem in the gaming community: the endless search for verified information.

I noticed how frustrating it was to hunt for codes, only to realize later that a game never had them to begin with. I decided to overhaul the project with a new mission: to create a definitive resource that informs you exactly what is available—and just as importantly, what isn't—to help stop the cycle of endless searching.

As the database grew to include thousands of games across 31 consoles, I completely re-engineered the platform's architecture. I moved away from the original slow-loading, multi-console pages in favor of dedicated, high-performance single console pages. By splitting these entries and adding integrated search functionality, I ensured that finding a code is as fast as entering one.

To truly modernize the experience, I moved beyond simple text. I spent countless hours creating 98 custom pixel-art button icons and replacing all text within the app complete the change. Project Cheat Codes is now one of the only databases in the world that translates raw text into visual controller inputs, making the transition from the screen to your hands more intuitive than ever before.

This is a true solo project, maintained by one person with no ties to game publishers or manufacturers. Every game is researched, every icon is placed, and every line of code is written with a simple goal: to build the most complete, user-friendly, and offline-ready cheat code database available.

What It Offers

Project Cheat Codes isn't just a list of text; it's a built-for-purpose engine designed to modernize the retro gaming experience. Every feature is crafted to ensure the transition from the screen to your controller is seamless:

The Process & Transparency

Project Cheat Codes is a true passion project, created and maintained by a single developer. I have no ties to game publishers, developers, or console manufacturers.

Because I believe in quality over quantity, every game in the database is researched individually and added manually. With the sheer volume of games released over the last several decades, many of the console lists are still being populated. This manual approach ensures that the features—like my custom button icons and status indicators—are applied correctly to every single entry.

The Goal

The ultimate objective is to build the world's most complete, user-friendly, and offline-ready cheat code database. While the project is a "work in progress," new content is being added daily as I bridge the gap between the mobile app and this website.
