About Luigi's Mansion

Luigi's Mansion is an action-adventure title developed by Nintendo and released as a launch title for the GameCube (GCN / NGC) in 2001, with a remake released for the Nintendo 3DS in 2018. Departing from the standard Mario platforming formula, the game features Luigi navigating a haunted mansion to rescue his brother. The mechanics center on the Poltergust 3000, a vacuum cleaner used to stun ghosts with a flashlight and pull them in. Combat is a tug-of-war struggle where players must tilt the control stick in the opposite direction of the ghost's flight path to deplete its health.

The GameCube version is noted for its early use of advanced lighting, particle effects, and physics, particularly in how shadows and cloth react to the vacuum's suction. The 3DS remake, developed by Grezzo, introduces several changes: it supports stereoscopic 3D, features a local two-player cooperative mode (with the second player controlling "Gooigi"), and adds amiibo support for tracking ghosts and restoring health. While the 3DS version includes a Boss Rush mode and an updated map on the bottom screen, it lacks the original's analog trigger depth for controlling the vacuum's suction strength. The GCN version remains the only way to experience the original high-resolution lighting and the specialized "Hidden Mansion" difficulty mode found in the PAL version. Whether you are catching Boos on your 3DS or searching for gold mice on your GCN, Luigi's Mansion focuses on atmosphere and tactical ghost-hunting.
