3D Baseball
In 1996, 3D Baseball was Crystal Dynamics' attempt to revolutionize sports gaming by moving away from sprites and into a fully polygonal world. While it lacks official MLB team logos (using city names like "Detroit" or "Boston" instead), it holds the MLBPA license, meaning it features over 700 real-life players with their actual stats. The game's biggest claim to fame is its "Real Motion Control" technology, which used advanced motion capture to recreate the signature batting stances of 50 of the league's top stars. It's an arcade-leaning simulation with a heavy emphasis on television-style presentation, bolstered by the high-energy commentary of CNN sportscaster Van Earl Wright.
