About Army Men: RTS
Army Men: RTS (widely recognized by fans as Army Men Strategy or AM RTS) is a real-time strategy title that successfully translated the complex mechanics of the genre into the plastic-soldier universe. Developed by Pandemic Studios, the team behind Full Spectrum Warrior, it was released for the Windows PC, Sony PlayStation 2 (PS2), and Nintendo GameCube (NGC/GCN). Drawing inspiration from the film Apocalypse Now, the game follows Sarge and his squad as they hunt down a rogue Green officer who has defected to the Tan Army.
On PCs and home consoles, the gameplay focuses on resource management and squad tactics. Instead of traditional gold or lumber, players harvest "Plastic" and "Electricity" from household items like frisbees and discarded batteries. The Windows PC version is frequently noted as the definitive way to play for strategy enthusiasts due to its intuitive mouse-and-keyboard interface. The PS2 console and GameCube versions feature a streamlined controller mapping designed to make unit selection and base building accessible for Sony and Nintendo players. Both console editions include a variety of "Great Battles" and "Special Missions" that extend the life of the game beyond the main campaign. Whether you are fortifying a base in a sandbox on PC or commanding a strike team on PS2, Army Men: RTS remains a definitive and polished entry in the long-running franchise.
