About Army Men: Air Combat - The Elite Missions
Army Men: Air Combat - The Elite Missions is a specialized aerial combat title that brought the plastic-soldier warfare of the 3DO series to the sixth generation. Released exclusively for the Nintendo GameCube (NGC/GCN), the game is an enhanced port of Army Men: Air Attack 2 from the PlayStation 2, serving as a tactical, helicopter-based spin-off to the core Sarge's Heroes storyline.
On GCN, the gameplay puts players in the cockpit of five different toy helicopters, including the Huey, Chinook, and Apache. Players operate as Captain William Blade of the Alpha Wolf Squadron, navigating through 20 missions set in both "plastic" battlefields and "real-world" environments like backyards and toy stores. The GCN version is frequently noted for its "Elite Missions" branding, which included four additional levels not found in the original N64 version, alongside updated lighting and texture filtering that took advantage of the GameCube hardware. A standout feature for Nintendo fans is the cooperative campaign mode, where two players can fly together to tackle objectives, as well as several competitive multiplayer arenas. Whether you are using a winch to pick up Roman candles or battling the villainous Baron Von Beige, it remains a definitive mission-based flight experience for GameCube collectors.
