About Alien Hominid
Alien Hominid (commonly known by fans as AH) is the legendary 2D run-and-gun shooter that transitioned from a viral Newgrounds Flash game to a full-scale console release. Launched for the Sony PlayStation 2 (PS2), Nintendo GameCube (NGC/GCN), Original Xbox, and the Game Boy Advance (GBA), it is celebrated for its hand-drawn art style and relentless "Metal Slug-style" difficulty. Players control a small yellow alien who has crash-landed on Earth and must fight through waves of secret agents and massive robotic bosses to reclaim their stolen UFO.
On home consoles like the PS2, Xbox, and GameCube, the gameplay is a chaotic 2-player co-op experience where precision and reflexes are paramount. Players can jump on enemies' heads, tunnel underground for stealth attacks, and utilize various power-up shots to clear the screen. The Original Xbox version is often noted for including extra PDA levels, while the Nintendo GameCube version remains a collector's favorite for its rarity. The handheld GBA version is a particularly impressive technical feat, managed by ZOO Digital; it successfully shrinks the fast-paced action and distinct visual flair of the Sony and Nintendo counterparts into a portable Nintendo experience. Regardless of the platform, Alien Hominid stands as a landmark title that proved indie web games could compete on major retail hardware.
